Please help stop pending wetlands construction in West Windsor!

This post expresses the views and opinions of the author(s) and not necessarily that of The West Windsor Voice management or staff.

Are you aware that West Windsor is planning to fill two areas of wetlands in order to build a home? Were you affected by the recent floods in West Windsor on August 6? We were and our car was totaled because of the flooding. Here is a 13 second video of what we experienced. The flooding occurred on our neighborhood street which is on the same lot where they want to fill in the wetlands and build houses. It makes no sense whatsoever!

Here is the letter of notification that we and our neighbors have received. https://tinyurl.com/wetlandww

If you want to try to stop this wetlands construction, here is a template letter you can use.

We encourage you to send it both by mail and also online as a complaint https://dep.nj.gov/contact-form/

We also encourage you to spread the word to as many people as possible.

Thank you for protecting West Windsor from flooding.

Dear New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection,

We are highly concerned about Wetland General Permit #6, #10A, #11, Transition Area Waiver Averaging Plan and Flood Hazard Area Individual Permit, Block 16, Lots 24.0 &69.01, West Windsor Township, Mercer County.

As you likely know, West Windsor experienced heavy flooding on August 6, 2024. Our flooding was so severe it was covered by CBS News. Block 16, where you are planning to fill wetland for construction, experienced heavy and dangerous flooding. You can view a 13 second video of what a neighbor who lives on Block 16 experienced at tinyurl.com/wwflood

Please do not disturb the wetlands on Block 16. We are already experiencing flooding and this construction will exacerbate it. Please do not build on the wetlands. West Windsor already has a water management problem and this new construction will exacerbate it.

Sincerely,
