The Human Relations Council meeting, on May 2nd, focused on the plan for its upcoming event, “Tea and Conversation.” The event will be held at Grover Middle School in the Cafeteria.

67% of Americans are lonely. The Council seeks to build human connections which cannot be replaced by our phones and computers. As stated by Jyotima Prasad, Chair of the Council, “the purpose of the event is to be inclusive and diverse so that we can meet, talk, and appreciate each other. Then we can converge with each other.”

There are volunteers who will be serving Indian tea, Scottish tea, Turkish tea, African tea, and Japanese tea. Apna Bazar and Big Bazaar will be sponsoring tea bags. The Council will be reaching out to Woorimart, McCaffrey’s, Costco, Patel Brothers, Wegman’s and Big Bazaar for sponsoring snacks. The tea serving will be starting at 2:00 pm and the performances will last from 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm.

The types of performances are dance music, classical music, bollywood fusion dance, tabla, poem recitation, henna and sari draping. The council and mayor will be performing. Council has reached out to Andy Bromberg and Anish Konar to invite performers to the event. Council expects about 100 people to attend the event.

Mark your calendars! The Council invites everyone to attend the event and celebrate our differences together.
